Cross-Species Transcriptomics Analysis Highlights Conserved Molecular Responses to Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances

In recent decades, per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) have garnered widespread public attention due to their persistence in the environment detrimental effects on health of living organisms, spurring generation several transcriptome-centered investigations understand biological basis mechanism. this study, we collected 2144 publicly available samples from seven distinct animal species examine molecular responses PFAS exposure determine if there are conserved responses. Our comparative transcriptional analysis revealed that is across different tissues, molecules species. We identified reported genes exhibiting consistent evolutionarily response PFASs, such as ESR1, HADHA ID1, well pathways including lipid metabolism, immune hormone pathways. This study provides first evidence induce comparable changes affect same metabolic processes inter-species borders. findings significant implications for understanding impact organisms environment. believe offers a novel perspective foundation future research into developing strategies mitigating these ecosystem.
